This painting is the right painting of a 'Triptych with woodpeckers' (see other photos on Saatchi). This triptych is only for sale together with the left and central paintings for the total price of $ 3400. In this work I depicted the black woodpecker. It is always impressive spotting this magnificant bird in the woods. The wooden frame is painted with acrylic. The work is signed on the back and hanging hardware is included. My inspiration is to focus more on the 'parallel' universum Nature, with animals that occur in the vicinity.

I depict nature as a universum parallel to the human world. Humans have been in the spotlight for too long now. It's time to focus on the parallel universum of animals in the vicinity. I have painted many species of animals, especially birds, that I spotted during nature walks in my country, the Netherlands. For example the different woodpeckers, the wren, the long-eared owl, the kingfisher or the yellow wagtail near a stream. They all figure in my paintings, drawings and ceramics. I try to make my works function as a mirror; 'What are we actually doing with the one and only world in which we live?'
