ABOUT THE ARTWORK

This work presents a woman seated in an armchair during a moment of reflection, serene and elegant. Dressed in an immaculate white long flowing dress, she is distinguished by grace and infinite tranquility. The painter masters the interplay of light and shadow, illuminating the scene with a soft glow that enhances the pastel hues of the setting. The woman wears a blue turban delicately wrapped around her head, adding a touch of exoticism and mystery to her allure. Her right arm rests nonchalantly on the arm of the armchair, while her gaze seems lost in a world of dreams, accentuating the work's contemplative atmosphere. The background is a harmonious fusion of green and blue, conveying a sense of calm and freshness. Touches of abstract paint dot the background, creating a dynamic contrast with the central figure, while underlining the dreamlike aspect of the composition. The details of the dress and armchair, painted with astonishing precision, demonstrate the artist's technical virtuosity. The folds of fabric and the wood of the armchair are rendered with impressive realism, lending an almost palpable texture to the whole. This painting is a celebration of femininity and inner beauty, wrapped in an atmosphere of tranquil reverie. Each element is carefully chosen to evoke a sense of peace and contemplation, making this a captivating and emotionally rich centerpiece.

Born in Courrières in the North of France, I share my time between the North of France and Paris which inspires me many urban scenes including café terraces. I have always used oil paint because slow drying suits my technique better. I work in series by inspiring my surrounding, places I go to, objects I own and stage. In the series "Réflexions sur le temps qui passe", I treat the cars and Vespa in the manner of the "vanities" of the past by perforating the bodies, rusting them, thus translating the time that passes and which reduces to few things once prestigious vehicles. The parallel is obvious with our own existence. In the still lifes séries, I stage objects with a preference for metal and glass and using a palette of coloured grey and nuanced white so as to have a contemporary touch. In the series "Mes petites Nanas", I interpret scenes, situations, by putting in scene my daughter who is used to me as model (The comedy of the feelings, or the works on the small girls). Finally, the urban landscapes are inspired, as I said earlier, by my numerous stays in Paris where I live part of the year.
