In this painting i really wanted to combine a funky graphic element with the more manicured oil paints, so the challenge was how to blend the two styles and different mediums together to form a cohesive artwork. I used oil paints for the face, acrylic UV paint for the torso and spray paint for the background. I used UV acrylic paint as it was the brightest acrylic paints i could find and wanted it to be as luminous as possible. The subject 'Daniel' is a tattoo artist in South Africa, he has the most piercing eyes and i feel like he himself is a work of art, an ever changing visual narrative of one's life and journey. "There is no more water to out the fire, Let it burn, let it burn, blood, blood, blood; blood and fire"- Niney
