About The Artwork

The Blue Bay collection is inspired by my apre-reggatta sailing experience in Devon. Growing up on the shores of the Caspian Sea and many adventures in the tropical seas across Caribbean, Brazil, Mediterranean and Indian Ocean I've been lucky to travel through. Having first hand regatta experience, I can honestly say - Champagne-on-the-deck is the kind of sailing I find most enjoyable and the kind of feel I transcend into my marine paintings. Care and stress free. Sun and salt in your hair. Reflections on water. Endless horizon views. It's also my take on the areal photography craze and attempt to create my very own get away reality where your eyes sink into the peaceful bliss. The series explore the idea of escape from urban stress and into the lavish tropical horizon Paintings are created with watercolour and a layer of oil boats - two stroke wonder, created to complete the minimal look of this highly successful seascape collection Bright florescent orange bouys Size: 70x50 cm / 27.6" x 19.6" 1.8 cm projection off the wall Size framed: 76x56 cm 5.5cm high edge white wooden tray frame - see images or message for extra images Material: Extra fine italian cotton canvas Finish: soft sheen gloss varnish ultra white edge *bear in mind its much nicer mintier colours and beautiful light locked in. Yuliya artistic talents started to forge from a really early age as she spent hours in the after school classes experimenting with media and receiving classical art training. She grew up between the leafy hills and lakes of Northern Kazakhstan and industrial Caspian coast town where she was born in 1980. In turbulent times of post Soviet collapse her future was decided in favour of law studies. So artistic development had to be slowed down. Only 15 years later Yuliya was able to return to art looking for meaningful engagement. Since 2015,  she showed her work as independent and with the gallery, was part of international established art fairs and shown with alternative gallery spaces.  Her work is well sold on all the major online platforms and found its way to movie sets (Marvel for Doctor Strange 2016, ABC for Scandal, 2017), have been shown in members clubs, stylish London hotels and fine dining venues, acquired by interior designers for yachts, cruise liner, international resorts and held in private collections world wide. Yuliya is known for developing collections filled with elegant flow and ethereal glow. She explores idea of fragility and strength in her sky scapes,  isolation at sea in dreamy sail boats coastal series, urban crowd dynamics in Connected works on paper and most recently cyclical nature of florals in her 2024 Blossom collection. With each of them focusing on delivering a dreamy side of an elemental realm, the body of works at large filled with weight free emotion effortlessly filling the viewer with light nostalgia. fall involve with me on instagram: @y_martynova_ where i show my life, my work, my beautiful house, daughter and occasionally a hiding hubby
