ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This work was inspired by a trek in the Himalayas when it was snowing. The blue is about ice but also a welcoming beacon when at the end of the day, exhausted, I was so happy to see the blue doors in the village called Syangboche in the distance. It has been painted in several layers using oil paint mixed with a cold wax medium. The top layers have been scraped back in places to reveal the colours in the layers beneath. It’s about the contrast of man-made colour and line with that in the landscape. The canvas is complete with D-rings and cord.
