Blue Evening Painting

To me art is a language that can communicate life experiences. I use the images I create to communicate memories, feelings, emotions and experiences from daily life. I tend to paint quickly and directly using a lot of impressionist techniques. I like the improvisation and the interaction of the paint. The interplay of the materials is part of the language for me. I make a lot of my own paint to ensure the intensity of the pigment is where I want it to be. The main element that I focus on is color. To me this is the best tool that I have to communicate my experiences. I am inspired by other artists who focus on color to capture memories such as John McCallister, Pierre Bonnard, Wolf Kahn and Laura Jones. I am always working on improving my form, but my real goal with my artwork is to communicate emotions from the human experience. In my artwork, I am attempting to share inspiring moments from my life and maybe find some common ground with other people living through similar moments.
