About The Artwork
I was inspired by a TV programme about Wicken Fen, A rewilding project in Norfolk owned by the National Trust since 1899. The programme included clips of the wild Konik ponies living as a free herd on this vast reserve. I was impressed by the profound and dignified relationship between mares and offspring. In my painting I want to show the sense of acceptance and stability and a complete independence from human needs and interference. I hope that viewers will share the same experience. I chose the medium of acrylic for ease of use and worked in a figurative style to explore the shapes and colours which I found interesting.

I have been an artist all my life. I was brought up in a London family of fine art and antique dealers who taught me about art and encouraged my creativity from an early age. I love traditional drawing and painting but I also like to experiment and push my art into new abstract forms. I have studied both classical and conceptual art at art institutions and in masterclasses with established figurative and abstract artists. I am now finding my own voice towards abstraction. Horses are a constant inspiration and catalyst for me. As for many artists, their sculptural form and beauty is greatly compelling, and for me horses symbolise something that is potent and unspoken. I am reaching for a contemporary equestrian art that shows the private nature of the animal as well as the human passion for this wonderful creature.
