About The Artwork

The story of Undine, originates from European folklore and has been retold in various forms throughout history. According to the legend, undine was a water nymph, often depicted as a beautiful maiden with an affinity for water. The most beautiful interpretation of the myth about undine is when she acquires legs instead of a tail in order to be with her beloved. However, in this story, we rarely think about her victim, that she left her familiar world. relatives, parents, friends. She left her loved environment, and lost her freedom to serve for one man. This year, thousands of dead jellyfish washed up on the seashore in our city. They were beautiful, clean, transparent, like moonstones dangling lifelessly in the waves. I was shocked, I understood that something had happened, why they had died in masse. I felled sympathy and concern for the inhabitants of the sea. I thought how vulnerable and defenseless they were, and my imagination took me into the fictional world of marine life and I imagined Undine. Her tragic tale continues to captivate audiences and remains a poignant reminder of the complexities of love and its potential pitfalls. Through the story of Undine, we can imagine our story of life. Imagine that she grows up, became an adult woman. The reality was realized. She began to make sense of her life consciously. I am impressed by the sea I live nearby. I am inspired by the story of Undine, her self-sacrifice for love. At the same time, I see in this myth the everyday story of modern women all over the world.
