Blue and gold - Banc d'Arguin Painting

'I am fascinated by the play of light, the confrontation of the sky, the sea and the land, by the line of the horizon. These landscapes talk of man and his environment, the calm of the bay and the force of the ocean. There is a special luminosity here, found nowhere else, the skies are huge. This is what I try to capture in my canvas's. I have twenty years experience as a painter, designer and creative director. As a designer and creator, I have lived, worked and painted in Paris, London, New York, Hong Kong and Tokyo. I have always been atracted by the Bassin d'Arcachon and Cap Ferret region on the French Atlantic Coast: its ambiance and light is so unique. It is a point of return and a source of inspiration, the subject of my work. I work from drawings and color studies produced in situ, 'en plein aire', complemented by photographs that serve as iconographic references, once I am back in my studio. I search to achieve a balance between the figurative and the abstract, with a simplification of forms, use of blocks of color, structured, simple and powerful compositions. My paintings aim to communicate both force and serenity, a depth of color and a timelessness: the magic which can be found between the sky and the sea.
