Part of the series of works, “Collapse”, I recalled my experiences with climate change thus far and confronted my own emotions about it – anxiety, fear, and a sense of foreboding. I hope that these works will foster awareness and a sense of collective responsibility, while they bear witness to this catastrophe of the Anthropocene era. Constriction, suffocation, and bondage of the Earth are represented through use of rope, biodegradable plastics, and heavy fabrics. This work, "Boiled Ocean" was created to draw attention to the collapse of coral ecosystems due the bleaching and death of coral worldwide due to warming oceans. I used a combination of soaking the painting surface with paint and a print block to create this work before adding the 3D printed coral piece and rope. The work hangs more like a tapestry than a canvas.
