Bold Painting

Bold. This piece drew out a boldness in me to create something that was a new form for me. The piece combines six canvases, once used for other pieces of art, and combines them into one. I wanted to call attention to the distinct pieces, so, rather than hiding them, the newspaper and yarn are meant to both draw attention to the separate canvases while drawing them together. It's a celebration of the unique elements instead of suppressing them. The artwork is also intended to reflect my personal beliefs around feminism, that our differences in gender should be celebrated and treated as equal parts of a whole. For me, living out this belief takes boldness and requires me to dare. I hope this piece encourages others to do the same, and I hope it inspires you to dare to believe your own bold truths.
