About The Artwork
I always start with chance operations rather than imposing my own ideas, history or meanings. In this case, pouring and dripping commercial paint on the floor and choosing one "drip" from the results. Then I photograph and double these, have a laser-cut template made and and through the negative spaces, spray paint rows and rows of paint to create a pattern. I always rely on the viewer to give meaning to my work but of course give titles that lead the way a bit. A sense of humor is always welcome and double meanings as in "Borders" also come up for me and lead to wider, political etc. meanings

Brigitte Radecki was born in Germany and currently lives and works in Montreal and Cape Breton Island, Canada. She received her BFA and MFA from Concordia University in Montreal and has shown her work throughout Canada and Europe. She has had several solo exhibitions in Montreal, Quebec, including at the Museum of Contemporary Art and has participated in several group exhibitions in Quebec as well as in, British Columbia, Germany; France, New Brunswick, MOCCA, Toronto, Ontario She has been a recipient of grants from the Canada Council for the Arts and the Conseil des Arts et desLettres du Quebec and was represented by Galerie Christiane Chassay in Montreal for twenty years. Her work is in private as well as corporate, and public such as the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, Canada Council Art Bank, Air Canada and the National Bank of Canada collections.
