About The Artwork
During the period in Delhi when Bougainvillea blooms in a riot of colours and is at its best, Samir did this water colour painting of a vast space full of Bougainvillea, only in shades of reddish-pink and white. The abundance of Bougainvillea foliage in its natural and wild growth pattern of spikes is reflected in this painting. Bringing out the colours vividly are the dark areas of the shade in the lower part of the foliage, providing the contrast. Figures of two visitor boys with a girl add life and scale to the painting, besides providing the focal point.
