About The Artwork

Society has defined the roles of men and women since the early days with the two genders traditionally having completely opposing roles. The general expectation of a female is to be polite, accommodating and nurturing while males are expected to be strong, aggressive and bold. Even though the 21st century has brought about a change in these expectations where the line between male and female roles are fading, there still can be seen certain characteristics which are frowned upon by society. This artwork explores the gender norms people have created for boys and men in general. It’s considered less manly to let ones emotions out through tears as traditionally men are expected to keep their emotions to themselves. This can add more pressure on boys from a young age and make them repress their true emotions. Even though men are traditionally associated with masculinity, can a man be seen as weak if he lets his emotions flow through tears?

Shipping & Returns

Delivery Time:Typically 5-7 business days for domestic shipments, 10-14 business days for international shipments.

Influenced by both classical and modern art, my work comprises elements from representational and abstract realism. Initially focusing on photorealism in portraiture with the use of graphite and charcoal pencils, my current body of work experiments the use of mixed media along with contemporary contextualization. The work is primarily figurative and explores the relationships and anxieties relating to human life. My artwork takes a critical view of society, on cultural issues often referencing subjectivity of beauty and questioning our place in the modern civilization. It attempts to express the 'issues of being’, and living in the early years of the 21st century.
