About The Artwork
The idea of doing the series using gemstones as my inspiration came out of my enjoyment of admiring and collecting them. The idea for the series began with my desire to explore foreign themes using modelling paste to create a 3D effect. Later I introduced specially selected stones and recycled objects. In Branching Out I have used a limited pallet so that I can delve into a particular colour theme. It has three strong vertical shapes using green, silver and gold. A pillar and a zen screen with reflective mirrors add a quasi-Japanese element.I attached branches in the vacant drilled holes. Then I added leaves using polymer clay.
