About The Artwork
A very special person in my life has recently lost her mother, unexpectedly. This loss touched me deeply. I knew what I had to do…I knew immediately what my task was….. I HAD TO PAINT. My friend as a child and her mother had a very hard life …a life full of anxiety because of abusing father, abusing husband. This man held these two women - his whole family - in spiritual terror. This man is dreadful…. ….and these women were awfully intimidated… …….till this point. The Mother has already been freed by death. The daughter is very close to it: she is about to tear the last link that binds her to the past, that binds her to her father. Both Mother and Child broke free. Symbols in the painting: Mother hugging her daughter while breaking free from life’s, husband’s repressive prison – CAGE She is on her way to heaven accompanied by her favourite flowers – RED GERBERA AND GYPSOPFILA. Baby's Breath is a flower that is a symbol of everlasting love. She is saying goodbye to her one and only daughter, leaving here her endless Love and Care ………waiting for the day to hug each other again. I saw a STORK flying over the cemetery after the funeral. It is the symbol of homecoming. She is free now.
