About The Artwork
'Breakthrough' is painted with layers of oil paint on canvas to create an atmospheric glow. Precisely sequenced geometries have then been hand-stitched into the canvas with a reflective metallic thread. This work continues my exploration of the void and our eternal nature. It utilises a mirrored seascape with the intention of creating the feeling of expansion and upliftment that can occur when gazing out towards the horizon and experiencing the knowledge of our connection to all that is, without the distraction of a recognized landscape. The metallic thread adds another dimension to the work by subtly reflecting light as well as disrupting the illusion of space that is created through the painting process by piercing through the canvas. It delicately reminds us of the dichotomy of the finite physical reality and the infinite reality of vibration and light that permeates all of life.

I live and work on the beautiful North Coast of NSW, Australia and work in a variety of media with a current focus on painting, sculpture and ceramics. I have a passion for many forms of visual, performing, written and practical arts which all tend to inform my practice during the process of creating although are not necessarily visible in the final work. I feel a deep connection to nature and am in a constant state of wonder at the beauty and perfection that exists amongst the ever-changing states of chaos and order. I am fascinated by the dichotomy of fragility and strength that exists within all life and the constant striving for balance and harmony within nature. This inevitably finds it’s way into my work. I approach my work as a form of meditation and hope to inspire a moment of stillness and contemplation within the viewer.
