About The Artwork

A man nearing the end of his life sits down at his broken and very old piano. It's been with him for over 60 years and has gone through many transitions and moves. The old man reflects back on his life recalling how he used play piano and how she used to sing as they sat together on the bench. (Flashback 50 years) A young couple falls in love and realize they are truly and deeply connected. They spend every moment together they possibly can. There is so much joy and love in their hearts. They have never felt such deep love before. He has to go overseas as he has enlisted in the service. They write letters back-and-forth over the years to each other. Love letters full of meaning and profound admissions of their ever-growing love for each other even with the distance in between. When he comes home, they marry. She loved and adored peacock feathers more that any flower. He brought her bouquets of peacock feathers over the years. After several years of loving each other with everything they have, and meeting each other on the piano bench to sing and play... she becomes ill. The illness took her away from him and it broke him. He never played the piano again. He kept the piano and moved a lot. He kept the lid to the piano shut at all times. He never fell in love again and lived with the void in his heart since her departure. Now, at the end of his life, he sits once again at the old, broken down piano, and opens the lid for the first time in all these years. And lying there are faded and tattered peacock feathers that she had placed there in the days just prior to her death. Suddenly, it was like she was in the room again, sitting next to him on that same old piano bench. She's always been here. (Written by Kelly Quinn - Inspired Artwork)
