ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Magnificent Frigatebirds (Fregata magnificens), of the subtropical and tropical Americas. If birds had our intelligence, they'd surely try to fight back against us. Loosely based upon a 15-bird photo by Andrea Westmoreland; but I wanted some open space, so asked 6 birds to step aside. This is a bit closer to realism than most of my work, which tends towards more surreal settings. The harshly sunlit dead trees were so strangely beautiful that I wanted to keep them.
