About The Artwork
I created this piece in a spirit of joy and abandon. I painted it in oil paint with cold wax medium on a cradled wood panel. I used many layers of oil,cold wax and marble dust, using ordinary kitchen tools to incise and scrape back as I went.The text-like scraping in the center doesn't really say any words, but when a friend looked at the piece, she said it looked like "Buccaneer" to her. I liked that for a title, as I felt like an adventurous voyager as I was painting the piece. I painted this over a cradled birch wood panel. The piece is wired and ready to hang.
