About The Artwork
This work is inspired and totally conceived from my imagination! As a native of the American West, and as a painter with a vivid imagination and skill as an illustrator, I have been working on a series of Indian life paintings. I have images of what life must have been like for the people of these times. Life was wild, hard, dangerous, and lived to its fullest! I like figures in action and it is a challenge for me to portray an imaginary scene realistically. I want the viewers to be able to connect with this piece as if it was an action movie, gripping in its intensity. I want to viewer to want to know, "How does it all turn out!?" You will have to wait for the next painting for the answer. I chose oil because of the subtlety and control. The subject matter of Indian life fascinates me. The style could have been more impressionistic, but realism seems the way to put the viewer into the scene.

My passion to create art was sparked early in life by my father's hidden skill. "I was about 5 years old when I came across a sketchbook in our home. When I looked through it I was amazed at the beauty and feeling the pencil drawings evoked! Portraits and street scenes; and I was even more amazed to find out they were my dad's drawings! I knew that I wanted to do that also." I became fascinated with all kinds of art and I believed art would be my career, so I felt free to try a lot of other things. It has been a difficult process but today I am in alignment with who I really am. I am now a full time, growing, changing, fire-breathing genius artist! I love the creation process; it's always new! I do not paint like any other artist that I have seen--my style is my own and it's evolving. My favorite thing is to paint from my imagination.
