About The Artwork
Camo Koi Gilt is a diptych that celebrates the organic forms found in the natural world. Greens, blues, purples, and yellows swirl and churn together. The gold-pearl overlay adds interest and even more movement. In my “Metamorphosis” painting series, I distill emotion into refined abstract forms. Layers of sinuous shapes float above chaotic environments, delicately decorated with white gold that shimmers in shifting light as if in motion. Hidden within each of these works is the word “LOVE” and a golden heart, giving the viewer an invitation to explore my imaginary worlds. I begin with wild abandon, giving in entirely to my raw intuition, made manifest in my physical movement as I work. I then create a framework upon which to build, allowing my intuition full reign again. Within this, I refine shapes and depth, often leaving previous layers visible in places or as added texture as a reminder of the perfection found in imperfection-in the mark of a human. My most recent paintings, "Stasis & Metamorphosis Collections," are poetic. Their graceful sculptural and curvilinear forms in sophisticated color palettes seem to float in the atmosphere.
