Camouflaged Chaos It's common for us to hide the way we feel and it's not always straight forward discovering exactly what someone else is feeling. On the outside someone can appear confident but feel insecure, act calm but feel chaos or seem happy but feel despair. Things are rarely how they appear on the surface and sometimes it's easy for us to forget that the way people project themselves is not always how they truly feel. For some people camouflaging chaos in this way is a means of survival. About the artist: I graduated from Liverpool John Lennon School of Art and Design with a BA(Hons) Degree in Graphic Design and Illustration and I have been painting in the streets, on canvas and pretty much anything else for as long as I can remember. One of the many things I love about street art and graffiti in particular is it's ability to inspire and bring people together, helping them cope within a certain environment by beautifying and making the surroundings more vibrant and energetic. This improves the lives of everyone involved not only in the creation process but also for the people that view, work or live around the art. I love that my talent and the kind of art I like to produce can be used and shared in this way. From my experience with community arts and in particular running a youth arts workshops in San Francisco, I have learnt that art can have this amazing ability to engage and empower people from all ages and walks of life and give them hope and encouragement by creating something that is personal and authentic in a materialistic world filled with fake realities and consumerism. I work across many different mediums from digital illustration to collage but recently I have much more of a focus on canvas and mural paintings often combining spray paint with acrylic paints. The thing I really love to paint at the moment is portraits, in particular women as I have a wonderful fascination with people. Hopefully this piece engages and empowers you and you feel it could beautify your space and bring vibrancy and energy to your home. Thank you for visiting. Cal x
