About The Artwork

These cement silos in the old port of Montreal were built in the 1940s and used to store barley used to produce malt up until 1980, when they were sold to Quonta Holding Ltd. to store soya and corn. When Canadian National Railways stopped its rail line service to factories in this area, the building became abandonned in 1989 and are now protected as part of the Lachine Canal National Historic Site.
