About The Artwork
Caravan 2010 It's drizzly and wet. You sit in your car and when you make a turn the windshield wipers swishing the window give you a clear picture. A caravan ... You see it, but the image does not penetrate. The landscape and the surroundings of your daily routine changes when you are alert and really look. With the ' caravan ' I have my interpretation of an image painted, I passed along the way. An image that might otherwise have escaped me. This painting was selected for the Summer exhibition 2011 held at the "Gemeente Museum The Hague".

When the idea comes from a memory (to paint a picture), I often search for or take a photo myself. It helps me to create a visual mental image. By working on a series of paintings at the same time, I create for myself the chance to experiment on the canvas with the paint, composition and balance. The paintings I have created, I will then decide whether to keep the image or start again and repaint all or part of the canvas.
