I painted this at a time when I was processing a lot of things the world was sending to me in terms of discrimination based on color. Migration is not easy, It is especially not easy for a brown woman and her family in a predominately white world. Even as we raise our children here and try to integrate as much as possible in this society, the journey is hard and fraught with obstacles. This painting represents the fact that even if we are tinted in different colors and shades we are essentially the same. Human. Medium: Watercolor and Acrylic. I have used both in different parts of the paintings to maximize the effect and varnished it to protect it from light. Framed : yes , simple black wooden frame , makes it easy for you and ready to hang . This is the first painting of a set of three.
