About The Artwork

** This piece is being exhibited and will be available in Feb 19th ** The Bigger Than Myself series is inspired by people-watching and observing connections and relationships in life. The series stems from the idea that everything-is-connected-and-everything-is-happening-all-at-once and continues to visualize that core idea of essential human experience. The individual lines are imagined as an individual or a single experience. No two lines identical, each line is treated uniquely different from each other with subtle color shifts and textures that require a great amount of time for mixing colors and attention to detail. The paintings are entirely comprised of many lines overlapping one another, creating its own unique impression of life with vibrant colors and textures that is observed and culled from life, that connection and interconnection as well as everything happening all at once. The title for the series: Bigger Than Myself, suggests that we as humans are here at the same time, living life for ourselves, simultaneously participating and interacting with ourselves, and while creating the meaning of what it means to be a human and being a participant in the great experience altogether. This idea also inspires the Map series, with interconnection as its foundation, the maps also builds and visualizes order and structure in society that is man-made. The series aims to look for how the things work as they are intended and designed, as to investigate why the rules and agreements exist within the society. Which is more based on problem solving than philosophical based, and this notion is best represented in computer chips and the grid system. At the same time, the series welcomes and accepts chaos and accidents that are part of the human experience, reminding the viewers that there is no such thing as perfection.
