Charles Aznavour (1924 - 2018), is a Franco-Armenian singer-songwriter, actor and writer. During his musical career, which began in the 1940s, he recorded nearly one thousand two hundred songs interpreted in several languages: French, English, Italian, Spanish, German, Armenian, Neapolitan, Russian and on the end of his career in Kabyle. He has written or co-written more than a thousand songs, for himself and other artists. He is one of the best known French singers outside the French-speaking world, described as "the divinity of French pop" by the American music critic Stephen Holden. Parallel to his musical career, Charles Aznavour leads a career as an actor, appearing in sixty-three feature films as well as television movies. Without denying his French culture, he represented Armenia in several international diplomatic bodies from 1995 and obtained Armenian nationality in 2008.
