I painted these cherry blossoms with a loose hand, intending to create an abstract with Japanese cherry blossom tradition in mind. The initial freehand approach and abstract concept turned into this romantic heart-shaped flow of cherry blossoms. I couldn't help it. Maybe that's all that is to life, love and beauty. And it flies away, just like cherry blossoms. Some info on materials and symbolism: original painting, ink and watercolours on rice paper. Watercolours are very pretty, with transparent shades of pinks, reds and whites throughout. Sakura is a national flower of Japan. It is very popular and highly symbolic. Sakura symbolise the end of winter, spring, new life, and fleeting beauty. Cherry blossom viewing festival, though originating from the Japanese custom, has become a popular event in many countries. The painting is signed, sealed, wet-mounted on backing rice paper and ready to be framed or mounted on a silk scroll. Please use acid-free adhesives when framing.
