About The Artwork
‘Cherry aid’ is an ode to the natural wonder that is the Sakura season. This acrylic on canvas artwork presents a cropped view of a cherry blossom branch. The perspective and subject matter is therefore a nod to japonisme, a significant influence on my personal favourite chapter in art history, impressionism and post-impressionism. The quiet fortitude of the pink hues of the Sakura blossom against the crisp blue sky hopes to remind the viewer that despite the ever vacillating times upon us, there remains certain rhythms of nature that will never be shifted. Natural constants which offer an aid for these unpredictable times.
