About The Artwork

The picture was painted after my trip to Tibet to the foot of mount Everest. The most majestic mountain impresses with its proud beauty. Bright sun and fresh wind from the icy peak fill this picture. Tired Tibetan yaks rest after a difficult climb. A moment of calm and peace because the weather in the mountains is so fickle. The picture is filled with the energy of victories and calm confidence.

Demkina Catherine was born on the 12th of September 1971 in Kazahstan. In 1996 she graduated from Biysk State Teacher’s Institute, the department of Fine Arts. From the first exhibitions it became clear that a new significant figure in painting appeared both in Siberia and in Russia. Demkina works in the genre of landscape and still life. In the year of 2001 The Union of Russian Artists invited Catherine to have practice in Academic Dacha named by Repin (Vishney Volochek) and after that her work “Lake Mastino” oil on canvas, 2001 was recognized as one of the best in the All-Russian Exhibition “Youth of Russia” in Moscow. In 2006 Catherine took part in the plein air and in the exhibition “Altay Land” in Ulan Bator (Mongolia), and from that moment a new stage of her creativity began. She started to make her pilgrimage to the holy places of humanity created by both nature and man. Catherine traveled around the cradle of ancient Christian culture of Russia “The Golden Ring” - cities of Vladimir and Suzdal (2008), the places of origin of Buddhism – Nepal, China, Tibet (Mount Everest, Mount Kailas), (2009,2011). In 2012,2015 at the invitation of Cite Internationale des Arts Demkina started for Paris to have practice. There she created a series of works devoted to Catholic shrines of Europe. 2014 – Turkey (Istanbul), Bosnia and Herzegovina (Saraevo, Pocitel), places of Muslim worship. 2015 – another practice in Paris and a trip to Morocco (Fes, Rabat), pearl of Arab culture. And certainly throughout Catherine’s creative life Altay Mountains remain the main theme for her. All these creative pursuits could not but affect the scenic qualities of the artist. Her paintings are filled with sacred meaning , light, buoyancy, sensuous beauty of the world. Seething energy of canvases impresses by complexity of texture, depth and unity of
