About The Artwork

"CHUPACABRA" was inspired by my then housekeeper (live-in) who later became my lover and now friend. I was particularly pissed off at her the evening I painted her. Thinking she would be rightfully angry at such a mean-spirited likenes of her, she simply stated "She is beautiful. NO?" FOLKLORE and myth abound where I live in a small village along the banks of the Rio Grande. The town is surrounded by Pueblos occupied by native Americans whom are influenced heavily by their Shamznistic culture. But a Chupacabra is the embodiment of Mexican lore which translates to Goatkiller . Shepard's use this term to explain losses, particularly mutilated goats in their charge. It also can refer to any unexplainable disappearance or grisly death in other herd animals and people as well. The piece has inspired z screenplay ( q/× complete) titled "Meet the Cabras" a horror/comedy set in the Southwestern United States which will hopefully be picked up for film in the future and several pieces of music including "Follow Me Out In To The Night". composed as a score for the feature for these are my trades. This artwork I hope will be taken as it was intended to be as z parody of life's trivialities via tongue in cheek dry humor...For what are we but emotional beings often caught up in our own manifested drama. It is heavy because it is 1/2 inch templeted plate glass and is blacklight reactive. I tend to incorporate fluorescents into my work because I am considered colorblind although zi see all colors, just not as others do, in fact I have the special gift of reading raw binary code and seeing through any camouflage. An eye for the incongruent one might say. I really despise selling any of my art as Za large part of me goes into the creation and zi actually miss having the ability to visit with them when gone. However starving artists are far too plentiful and I have little wish to continue among them yet I still find it more palatable than working as a corporate executive as I once did many years' ago. If you think my price high then move on to another artist. This is the price for a part of my soul which should be priceless in my estimation. I hope the owner and all who view it enjoy the black comedy in it and inspired by it. Ms. Dos Santos and zi remain friends and the piece illustrates her vibrance. power and eroticism. We wish you well and advise you don't go wandering around the Bosque at night by yourself, you never know what is out there waiting.
