This watercolor paper cut started from a watercolor painting of a white cattleya orchid with a dark blue background: after the painting was finished I didn't think it was up to my standard but instead of discard it I painted over the white area with washes of pinks and blues then used as my paper cutting. the young woman profile is surrounded with flowers and butterflies. original watercolor with paper cut on 90lb arches watercolor paper, 18"x20".
