colour conversation 3 Painting

This painting is one of several in which I explore the relationship between colours. I am fascinated by the energy that is created when two or more colours are placed alongside one another. The more colours, the more challenging it is to keep the dynamic in check. My intention is to create a group of colours which, in their grouping create a slight imbalance, they sit well together, but not entirely... Taken individually the colours are neutral, but once one is placed next to another, a dynamic is set up... In colour conversation 3, the circles are overlapping one another, creating/adding 24 colours to the mix!!! There is a fluidity and a balance to the painting, but it is fragile, focusing too closely on one colour tips the balance... This is a painting that can be looked at again and again, each time posing an open ended question, like a mathematical equation with several unravellings.
