About The Artwork
I painted this with oil and cold wax medium on a plastered wood panel. At the time I was challenged by the illness of a family member and wanted to "paint my way" to optimism. The piece contains many layers of paint and wax and has layers that are scraped back or incised to suggest the dejpth and complexity of our experiences in life. The overall color is a positive one, and hints at the hope that emerges and the strength that we can find when we need it.
