This piece is available at: singulart.com/en/artist/chris-crewe-10989 Chris Crewe paints Pop Art commentary as a reflection of contemporary life, living a fast paced and colorful post modern lifestyle. He also has a clothing line and a series of larger paintings based on the concept of "capturing a moment in time" where he uses a sledgehammer to create abstract work by capturing a controlled explosion on canvas with paint. Chris can often be found documenting graffiti with his camera, finding inspiration in the city around him, looking down alley ways, climbing street poles, exploring everywhere and uncovering new work. Graffiti is much like logo design where there is always a fresh attitude and boldness which is fertile ground for new ideas. These paintings are created using Latex Enamel as well as Ink, often times a Graffiti Marker and Oil Pastel are used as well. Chris prefers using bright and vibrant colors with strong line and shape in his compositions, he has a gift for creating controlled explosions on canvas, paired with a love for intelligent composition and subject matter revealing love for the world in his work. used so many different materials in this painting I believe it now represents the wide variety of options available to me as a mark maker, a true rainbow! Here are the mediums I used: Concrete cinder blocks Nail Polish Printer labels Markers Melted Crayons (Encaustic) Ink Latex Paint (Semi Gloss) Acrylic Paint Oil Paint Charcoal Ball Point Pen Sparkles (Silver) on Wood. ______________________________________________ Copyright © 2019 Chris Crewe - All Rights Reserved.

« I hope you will see a starting point and maybe get a bit lost: I hope that you will dream. » Emerging artist Chris Crewe compares life to a trapeze act. Always knowing that the next rung will be there, he hasn't fallen yet. The Canadian artist has been studying the use of sledgehammer as a paintbrush, replicating marks, and incorporating them into his abstract works. Crewe also makes paint markers out of plastic bottles by melting the plastic to turn the lid into a spout, often using them to draw in free-flowing gestures. His unique works are meant to 'brighten your day'.
