ABOUT THE ARTWORK
Inspired by North Germany's Wadden Sea National Park, known as Wattenmeer - where seabed meets the horizon, this large scale encaustic artwork has a smooth finish with layers and layers of fused encaustic pigmented medium. When light and shadow play on the painting the natural reflections of the mixed media beholds the viewers attention and the negative space with vibrant colours is calming and serene.

Born in Wellingborough, England, 25 years of fast-paced London based travel industry work commitments took me world-wide. In 2009, I began oil painting under Talal Refit and continued for 6 years under Uwe Mueller (student of Henry Moore) at Kunstwerk in Wilhelmshaven, Germany. Somewhere along the road, I started experimenting with Encaustic and self-taught the wonderful medium of this ancient art, dating back between 1st - 3rd century. Today, for painting I alternate between encaustic on wood panels and oils on canvas working full-time at my atelier located in historic town of Jever, Germany.
