About The Artwork

You touch the surface blind-folded you'll feel your fingers running through a texture that you recognise, that you are very familiar with. You'll feel a lot of embossed smartly patterned dots getting squeezed under your finger wrinkles. They are not random, they are there to create a meaning. A meaning that I can't define for you, which is personal. It is deeply rooted and imbibes nutrition from your teenage memories and subconscious mind. What did you feel when you sat along yourself under a tree bathed in sun? This painting is exactly the collection of all that that you remember or you remember but can't express clearly. It is imagery which shall not cheat you, it stays with you like dust until you deny it space in yourself. The moment you let it go it shall go, then it may not make any sense, any meaning. You'll feel robbed of liquid and dust which made you you.

KB’s paintings, drawings and digital art push you into a chaotic hole of emotions, thought processes and experiences mostly centred on cultural aspects of life, rituals and traditions centred around women of all kinds. KB was born in a poor, malnourished socially underprivileged family in the Thar desert of India. If you are aware of culture, traditions, education, and lifestyle for women in the region you can very well visualise the challenges a baby girl needs to face in order to not only survive but compete, to prove worth to be able to associate value with a girl’s name. She was one of such girls who was lucky enough that her parents believed in empowerment of girl child. She therefore had access to English STEM education and was able to rise above caste discriminations which are prevalent in India. First day to school was different and diverse, she couldn’t understand the sudden social change she had to bear, hence she ran away from school and ultimately was reunited to her family by combined efforts of a shopkeeper and his customers. She was brought up in different urban and metropolitan cities across India. Growing as a vulnerable being, a young girl, with breasts and vagina was (and is) not easy. She had faced child sexual assault, eve teasing, stalking, groping, escaped an attempt of being kidnapped. She has largely remained influenced by patriarchy and oppression that women face. The growing technological connections across the world i.e. through Internet she was able to read about the caste, revolution of feminism and sexual liberation with the help of which she could identify her place in the society. Also, she is very fond of Mathematics and Physics. These elements are identifiable in her artworks in one or the other way. To make it easier for her viewers to understand, there are four words which might cover major part of her inspirations and those are: oppression, liberation, womanhood, and emotional chaos. She has created art in various forms since her early childhood, starting from drawing on bright golden sand of Thar, sculpting wet sand to emerging to be a known and inspiring self taught artist. Mostly you can see her artworks in acrylic on canvas, mixed media on canvas, watercolour on paper, and digital art.
