ABOUT THE ARTWORK

Many artists throughout the years have created their own vision of crucifixion. This one is mine. It is part of the series I called "Artifacts of Archetypes". The painting is Life-Sized and enshrouded in thick resin layer. Lens-like thickening of the resin in the center of the paining creates a window focusing on the intricate halftones on the surface of the subject's "skin". Overall the use of thick resin and raised borders creates an illusion of an incased artifact one might find behind the glass in a museum. The intention is to bring to life, to materialize ideas and long time desired by Christianity, mementos of faith. This piece does not require a frame and comes ready to be displayed. Although this is a dark image, heavy with emotional undertones, it will without a doubt, be a conversational and unique piece for your space.

Dennis began studying painting, drawing and sculpture at an early age. After a long hiatus Dennis rekindled his passion for the arts. He attended Academy of Art Canada - an atelier which fueled his passion for classical tradition and esthetic. Dennis is a figurative artist who has an extensive experience in health care and medicine, and attempts to speak to human condition through form and contemporary narrative. His works isolate the human form, focusing on its beauty and its emotional expression. His works reflect meditations on the zeitgeist of his time, both the anguish and the bliss. Dennis' paintings assert presence and dominate any space. With their muted palette, the works are conversation starters as they lie in stark naked contrast to the dressed, artificial and abstract surroundings of the modern.
