ABOUT THE ARTWORK
This painting was inspired by the observation of horses in the pasture on a sunny summer afternoon. They were under constant attack of the flies and were stomping and shaking all parts of their body like crazy. Especially one horse seemed to have lost it. At the time I was doing some studies of Hundertwasser's colorful paintings and the logic of contrasts seemed to work pretty fine for this atmosphere, so I used it. Following the horse's head anatomy, I put thick and flat colorful layers of oil paint to construct the face and compressed it with the background made of impressionistic white-beige brushstrokes. The effect is intense emotional tension.

Lara Ješe
Slovenia
Lara Ješe is a visual artist living and working in Kranj, Slovenia. She doesn’t stick to a particular style or a medium, but most of her production resides in figurative painting. Colder and darker tones from her earlier work with animal motifs have made way for increasingly saturated colours and strong, bold shapes. In 2016 she acquired her MFA at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, Slovenia, and also studied at the HGB Leipzig in Germany. She has exhibited in solo and group shows internationally, most notably in Slovenia, Switzerland, Germany, and the USA.
