Christiaan Johannes Adrianus van Dijk. Born in 1952, Den Bosch ( Bois le Duc ), The Netherlands ( Pays Bas ). In 2002, he opened his own highly successful gallery in the Dordogne, a beautiful area in Southwestern France between the Loire Valley and the Pyrenees Mountains. His gallery features not only his work but also some of the most important artists working ​in a Realist and Impressionist styles. ​Since 1978, Chris has devoted his life to creating his paintings, which, true to their Impressionist inspiration, focus on plein air scenes: at the beach, in the forest, or in the beautiful wine and poppy fields of Burgundy and Dordogne.​ ​ Like the works of Berthe Morisot and Mary Cassatt, the paintings of Chris van Dijk often feature women and children. The scenes look unposed, as if the subjects were caught unawares. Most of the time, they look away from the viewer, engrossed in their daily activities, such as playing in the sand, walking in the woods or picking wildflowers. They seem to be at home in their beautiful natural surroundings. Chris van Dijk’s paintings, like the works of the Impressionists, are a celebration of the ​beauty of nature and life.
