ABOUT THE ARTWORK
From a sketch. Here I wanted to do a figure, or bust, using limited colour and with a narrow tonal range. The image had come to me of an eye set in a fractured and splintered head. As in other works, I am interested in the idea of merging the figure, or object, with the background or surrounding environment. The work is on hardboard mounted on pine batons, and is made with artist quality oil paints on a gessoed surface. The Cyclops appeals to me as a figure in art. As a games artist, in a past life, I drew and created many variations of such creatures. NST. 2018.
