Finding AND LEARNING I was born in Turkuhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turku Finland 1965. My father was a musician and my mom a craftswoman. As a child I already used to draw and I made hundreds of works with water colors, pencil an marker. My only interest in school was drawing. I went to the children's art club held by the sculptor A well-known sculptor Simo Helenius https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Simo_Helenius when I was around 7 or 8 years old. In the beginning of 1979 my mom got remarried with painter Yrjö Virtanen. Virtanen was a versatile artist who greatly stimulated me to paint. I also started painting with oil sometime after the mid 70`s. A crucial year was 1985. Jan Palmu, a good friend of Yrjö Virtanen came to my home.Form him I got the inspiration for still-life paintings, for he taught me how to make a glass object look like glass. Right then something poured out of me- something poured out of me- something I did now known before- that I am an artist and I have been one since I was born, because from a moment I got a pencil in my hand I just drew and drew, living in my own world. On that very year I already had an exhibition in an empty townhouse on Koulukatu. People visited and I even sold one painting. Something happened in 1989 when I was discovered by some art crowd. Shortly, in the same year a TV program was made about me. I was doing my art and all of it found a home. It made me feel good that people liked my artwork. I focused on orders and in 1993 one of my painting was added into the art collection of the President of Finland. I personally handed it over to the Mäntyniemi residence of the President. Answer: In -93. I went there to look for new ideas and I did find them, for I lived in Granada Spain, in a village of Salobreña https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salobreña alone with the locals for five weeks. People, the wary of life, light and flamenco took my heart. I came for another trip to Granada in 1994. I was reborn then and I would be making art here for the next decades. In 1995 I moved to Spain and I started looking into the history of the country. Soon I noticed that I had come to the roots of art history and that contry is a jewel of history an art. For 400 years Spain was ruled by Rome, 800 years it was ruled by the Arabs who left here everything: the way of live, gastronomy, architecture, decorative art an horses. The years in Spain for me have been light and symphony of colors, developing further.
