Over the past 25 years, his style has undergone various transformations, being predominantly abstract expressionism, with thick layers of paint and deep contrasts. Trifonov uses mixed media, both acrylic and oil paints in his compositions. The main themes he works on are the beauty of seasons, seascapes, boats, underwater, landscapes, nature, still life, portraits. He tries to capture on the canvas the human psyche, relationships and connections with the surrounding world, our place in the universe, the transience of things.
