About The Artwork
The painting is inspired by scientific photographs of DNA I like to play around with watercolour. I don't use it in a traditional restrained delicate way, I like the way watercolour is unpredictable and hard to control, it is far more than its traditional genteel image. For every 20 watercolours I paint, 19 go in the bin. I'm happy with the way this one turned out.

I am a painter based in Bath UK having moved from London 12 years ago. My main subject is the natural world. I work in oil on wood and multi media on paper. The oil paintings are more still and atmospheric owing to the nature of the material, whereas the watercolur paintings are more spontaneous. I like to just see what happens when I make marks with the watercolour, it is hard to control so the results are hard to predict.
