About The Artwork

Dahlia #2 is one of the early paintings from the floral abstraction work created from Dahlia flowers in the garden at our new home. In my other abstractions, I concentrated on the various shapes and colors within a flower. Currently, I am removing some sections of the flower, and replacing them with color, which creates a new level of significance to the image that remains. The deep purple areas in the painting are under-painted with crimson so that when properly lit the purple is super dynamic. The painting comes with a simple white, wooden box frame and hanging hardware.

After several years working in graphic design, Ron took to the studio to paint. Primarily working in oil, he occasionally creates conceptual pieces using mixed media. His works have been exhibited in Dallas, Denver and Los Angeles. His influences include but are not limited to Wassily Kandinsky, Lawren Harris, Georgia O'Keeffe and Authur Dove. He lives in Colorado with his wife, Kathy Trageser. “I’ve always felt the need to understand the sense that there is a larger force at work in the universe. This mystical approach has become my style. Though my paintings tend toward the representational, I am creating landscapes from within; hoping to transcend the physical, mental or spiritual and instead portray a measure of all three. As my creations have evolved from realistic imagery I always limited the context of foreground, background, etc, to the direct identification of the subject itself: river, tree, or flower and to isolation of colors and patterns. I hope to carry forward this choice to utilize strong images, refined to an essence, bringing forth artwork which is sublime and accessible.”
