"Dance" series was inspired by Picasso's 1949 "Light drawings" experiment featured in LIFE magazine and photographed by Gjon Mili. My love for Mid-century inspired architecture and design naturally evolved into this series. Bold, colorful and rhythmic paint strokes and markings...creat a "dance" on canvas. I'm an Los Angeles based abstract painter with both a Theatre and TV Production Design background. Raised in the San Francisco bay area, my love for painting started at age 8, painting and drawing landscapes. During college I did tourist caricatures in Fisherman's Wharf while designing sets and costumes at the Presido Playhouse and other local theatres. I'm drawn to mid-century modern clean lines and incorporate those elements into my abstract compositions. I experiment with various techniques but am drawn to acrylics with generous layers and textures. My use of color is bold and dramatic, drawing on my theatrical experiences.
