Manuel Hernandez, Artist and Architect Date of birth 01/09/1968. Buenos Aires.Argentina Nacionality:Italian / Argentinean Phone:0054 9 2262 414275 Email:manuxhernandex@gmail.com Web: www.hernandezmanuel.blogspot.com Manuel Hernandez was born in Necochea in the province of Buenos Aires. Manuel studied drawing, theory and architecture at La Plata University, Argentina, but began painting in 1993. While studying architecture, Manuel also enrolled with La Plata University art faculty where he studied art for two years before becoming a pupil to Alejandro Boim, an Argentine contemporary artist now residing in Canada. From 1997 to 2000, Manuel worked as an architect on the restoration of La Plata Cathedral to the design of Pedro Benoit, serving prominent architect and artist Jorge Bozzano who was also chairman of the International Centre for Conservation of Heritage in Argentina. The ambitious project for the cathedral was started in 1884 but never completed and called for the skills of both architects and artists to complete its design and construction. Drawing on both his creative artistic flair and technical architectural expertise, Manuel was instrumental in designing the ornamental fae, the main and little towers, the pinnacles and finials and the long flying buttresses. While working on this project, Manuel was selected to design the logotype of the XIV edition of the Sacred Art Competition for the museum of La Plata Cathedral. In 1999, Manuel was invited by the International Council and Monument and Site in USA to participate in a Summer Program for young?s Architects involved in conservation. Manuel?s drawings and sketches were exhibited in The American Institute of Architecture Gallery in Portland. In La Plata, Manuel participated in several art competitions where he was selected to collectively exhibit his work, for example the Artists Plastic Society and the Fray Angelico Museum of the Catholic University of La Plata. In 2002 and 2003, Manuel traveled to the United Kingdom, Italy and Spain before returning to Argentina where he concentrated on painting. In May 2006, Manuel came to live and work in England. We can find his works in different locations in London, Spain, Italy, USA and Argentina.
