About The Artwork

This work is one in the collection called: "Dancing our lives together through gray reality forever". I was inspired by looking at my wife's old photo, from the time we met in theatre, working on our contemporary dance performance. She was an angel-like energy figure that shined out of the dark corridors of the National Theater in Belgrade, Serbia, just when my soul started accepting the darkness, just at the moment I was becoming the Phantom of the Opera, hiding in theatre from the post-war, the post-revolutionary outside world, that took all my energy. From this moment we share our efforts to make this world a better place, by producing art in different shapes and mediums and by helping each other's fragility to survive this cruel yet beautiful time package called real life. Hope you, viewers, will be encouraged by this rather sadly - happy painting, to look back at your memories, and remember all the fights you fought to find beauty in this time-space continuum, and try it yourself. Try to dance your way through the dark, and shine for somebody around. Try to cry while laughing, give while you take, quit by fighting, and despair by hoping. Trust your feelings, and use them as a shield. Use this painting to make your own theater performance while looking. I've learned that every theme has its way of showing, its style, depending on what one is trying to communicate on the subject as well as which media is an artist using. In this case, watercolors and paper gave me the freedom to express my feelings on this subject with great freedom, not minding much about forms and details, because the primary theme is this sad/happy feeling I have when I look back to that period of my life. Style is kind of abstract for the same reason. Fast, imprecise brush strokes, stains, and imprecise pencil lines, are all results of the primary need to express fillings through this painting. Hope they come to reach your souls too.

My name is Charnie, I'm also called Daddy Noob. I'm from Belgrade, Serbia. Professionally, I'm using all possible art forms, mediums, shapes, and styles to explore, express, share, and go through life. I'm a professional actor, director, and contemporary dancer, I play music, sing, write, do sculptures, and paint. Even my "supporting jobs" are often connected to art: driving film crews, assisting directors on films, teaching at drama schools... I've learned that every theme, story, and feeling has its way of showing, its style, depending on what one is trying to communicate on the subject and which media an artist uses. In performing arts, music, and even in writing I'm missing the tools to express those things I can through painting and sculpture, so, adding this makes me feel fulfilled as an artist. Art brutte in a way. Art from current feelings and needs, learning from art about life and about life from art. Different themes, techniques, and styles
