This piece was inspired by what I saw during a early morning walk in a field. I was struck by how the light hit the dew drops on the wild grasses. It reminded me of the Blake poem: "To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower..."

About The Artwork

This piece was inspired by what I saw during a early morning walk in a field. I was struck by how the light hit the dew drops on the wild grasses. It reminded me of the Blake poem: "To see a world in a grain of sand, and a heaven in a wild flower..." For me, my art practice is a type of meditation, where I concentrate on a small thing like creating a perfect circle of light, or painting a raindrop with such precision that it looks real. In the chaos of the modern world, this practice for me has become crucial to maintaining center, balance, quiet, calm, a sense of inner peace. I hope that looking at this painting will give you the same respite. About the process: this painting was made with a new type of paint called "interactive acrylics," that is, with acrylics that don't lock. This has allowed me to explore photorealistic techniques that I could not achieve with regular acrylics. I use a combination of huge 4-inch brushes to get the softness required, and an assortment of small detail brushes. All of my paintings I stretch on my own. They are made with heavy-duty composite stretcher wood, so it will never bend. The paint is flexible and will never crack. There is a hanging wire on the back already, so out of the box, it is ready for your wall. I truly hope you enjoy this piece.
